Description
There’s something magical about combining comfort food with simplicity. Inspired by my grandmother’s love for hearty American snacks, I’ve taken a classic spinach dip and turned it into an irresistible, crispy treat—Spinach Dip Cheese Crisps. These low-carb, gluten-free bites bring together creamy spinach dip and a golden cheese shell, perfect for both winter gatherings and summer entertaining.
Ingredients
For the Dip Filling:
-
1 cup frozen spinach (thawed and well-drained)
-
½ cup cream cheese, softened
-
¼ cup sour cream
-
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 garlic clove, minced
-
¼ tsp onion powder
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Cheese Base:
-
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Optional Add-ins:
-
Pinch of red pepper flakes
-
Cooked, crumbled bacon
-
Fresh chives or green onions
Instructions
Step 1: Create the Spinach Dip Mixture
Begin by mixing cream cheese and sour cream in a medium bowl. Once smooth, fold in the spinach, Parmesan, garlic, and onion powder. Add salt and pepper to taste. This creamy filling is the heart of your crisps, so make sure it’s well-blended.
Tip: Use paper towels or a cheesecloth to squeeze out as much water as possible from the spinach. This prevents soggy crisps.
Step 2: Form the Cheese Rounds
Next, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Combine cheddar and Parmesan in a bowl. Scoop a tablespoon of the cheese mixture onto the tray and gently flatten into circles. Leave at least 2 inches between each round.
Step 3: Add the Filling
Now, place a teaspoon of the spinach dip in the center of each cheese round. Sprinkle a little extra shredded cheese on top to cover the dip and help it melt into the base.
Step 4: Bake Until Golden
Transfer the tray to the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes. The crisps are ready when the edges are bubbly and golden brown. Allow them to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. They will firm up as they cool.
Serving Ideas for Spinach Dip Cheese Crisps
