Grinch Oreo Balls Recipe

  • Author: Diana Carrozza

Description

Nothing says holiday cheer quite like Grinch-inspired treats! These Grinch Oreo Balls are a fun, no-bake dessert that combines the classic flavors of Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated in vibrant green chocolate, and adorned with a red candy heart to symbolize the Grinch’s growing heart. They’re as delightful to make as they are to eat—perfect for parties, gifts, or a cozy movie night with How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Ingredients

Scale

For about 24 balls, you’ll need:

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup green candy melts (or white chocolate chips with green food coloring)
  • Red candy hearts or red sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

Step 1: Crush the Oreos

  • Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until finely crushed.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, seal the Oreos in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they resemble fine crumbs.

Step 2: Mix with Cream Cheese

  • In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese.
  • Mix thoroughly until the mixture forms a thick, uniform dough.

Step 3: Shape the Balls

  • Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the Oreo mixture.
  • Roll it into a smooth ball and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Repeat until all the mixture is used, making approximately 24 balls.

Step 4: Chill the Balls

  • Place the Oreo balls in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or until they are firm and easy to handle.

Step 5: Coat with Green Chocolate

  • Melt the green candy melts (or white chocolate with a few drops of green food coloring) in the microwave.
  • Use 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is smooth.
  • Dip each Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated.
  • Use a fork or dipping tool to lift the ball and let the excess chocolate drip off.

Step 6: Decorate the Balls

  • Place the coated balls back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, add a red candy heart or sprinkle on top of each ball to represent the Grinch’s heart.

Step 7: Chill Again

  • Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely set.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy

  • Transfer the Oreo balls to an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Chocolate Tips: If the chocolate is too thick, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to thin it out for easier dipping.
  • Storage: Keep the Oreo balls refrigerated in an airtight container for up to one week.
