A classic British dish featuring crispy battered fish served with golden chips and mushy peas.

- 4 pieces white fish fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup cold sparkling water
- 4 cups frozen chips
- 2 cups peas
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the fryer or a pot of oil to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour and baking powder, then gradually add the sparkling water to create a batter.
- Dip the fish fillets in the batter and carefully lower them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- In another pot, boil the peas for about 3-5 minutes until tender, then drain and mash them with butter and salt.
- Cook the frozen chips according to package instructions until crispy.
- Serve the fish with chips and mushy peas on the side.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add lemon juice to the mushy peas.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to ensure crispy results.
