Ingredients
-
2 lbs sirloin steak or chuck roast, cut into bite-sized cubes
-
3 tablespoons olive oil (for browning)
-
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
-
½ cup beef broth (low sodium preferred)
-
Optional: 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for extra umami)
-
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak bites in batches until they get a good brown crust. This step locks in flavor and creates depth in the final dish.
Tip: Don’t overcrowd the pan—brown in batches for best results.
Transfer the browned steak bites to your slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add soy sauce if using.
Cut butter into small chunks and dot it over the top of the meat in the crockpot. This helps create a rich, buttery sauce as it cooks.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the steak bites are fork-tender and flavorful.
Stir well before serving. Spoon over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, rice, or serve with veggies and crusty bread.
Notes
You don’t have to brown the steak before adding it to the crockpot, but it really boosts the flavor and texture. If you’re short on time, you can skip it — the dish will still be delicious, just a little less caramelized.
