Description

On a cold Christmas Eve, there’s nothing more comforting than a mug of creamy, indulgent hot chocolate. This crockpot recipe is a game-changer, delivering rich, velvety hot chocolate with minimal effort. Perfect for gatherings, holiday parties, or a cozy night with family, this recipe combines the classic flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and cream. Let your slow cooker do the magic while you enjoy the festive moments!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups milk (whole milk recommended)
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, marshmallows, or candy canes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the slow cooker.
Set your crockpot to low heat and lightly grease the inner pot to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Combine the liquid ingredients.
Pour the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk into the crockpot. Stir gently to combine.

Step 3: Add the chocolate.
Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cocoa powder to the milk mixture. Stir to distribute the chocolate evenly.

Step 4: Enhance with vanilla.
Stir in the vanilla extract, ensuring it’s well mixed with the chocolatey base.

Step 5: Cook and stir.
Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 2 hours. Stir every 30 minutes to ensure the chocolate melts evenly and no lumps form.

Step 6: Serve and garnish.
Once the hot chocolate is rich and creamy, ladle it into mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a festive candy cane for a delightful touch.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
  • Stir regularly to prevent the chocolate from settling at the bottom.
  • If you prefer a thinner consistency, add an extra cup of milk before serving.
