These Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Cookies combine the best of both worlds—soft, fluffy banana bread and chewy chocolate chip cookies! They’re perfectly sweet, loaded with melty chocolate chips, and have a deliciously moist texture thanks to ripe bananas. Easy to make and perfect for snacking, dessert, or even breakfast on the go!

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 medium ripe banana, mashed (about ½ cup)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Mix-ins:

  • 1 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the Banana

    • In a small bowl, mash the banana until smooth.
  3. Cream Butter & Sugars

    • In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients

    • Mix in mashed banana, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Mix Dry Ingredients

    • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  6. Combine & Fold in Chocolate Chips

    • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
    • Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop & Bake

    • Use a cookie scoop to drop dough onto the baking sheet.
    • Press extra chocolate chips on top.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden.
  8. Cool & Enjoy

    • Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a rack.
    • Enjoy warm or store for later!

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best flavor.
For chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes.
